Book 7: Ready Player One - Ernest Cline

Ready Player One follows our protagonist Wade Watts in the year 2044. The earth has kinda gone to shit. With climate change, energy & food shortages, and disease theres just a little bit of everything going on. As a result pretty much the whole population turns to The Oasis to escape there day to day lives. The Oasis is an MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) that was created by a man named James D. Halliday. But when James dies he leaves behind a video clip instead of a will. Revealing that he has coded an Easter egg into Oasis and whomever solves all the riddles and completes this hunt first, Will inherit his fortune (somewhere in the billionaire range) and also will gain control of Oasis. Ready Player One follows Wade as he finds the first key (five years after Halliday's death) and starts the biggest race to the finish line in Video Game history.

Ready Player One was one of those books. I took one look at the back and I knew it was going to be a favorite of mine. This book is now easily in my top 5 favorite books of all time. It is a fantastic story filled to the brim with tons of 80's Video Game and Pop culture references. The characters where amazing and the whole book was extremely well written and thought out. If you like 80s music, movies, or video games you will LOVE this book. I could go on for hours about this book so I will end it here but, please pick up this book. I am begging you to pick up this book. I will buy you a copy. Just read it. It will be well worth your time. Do it. Now.

p.s Listen to the play list the author put together at the same time. Makes it ten times better!
