Jacob's grandfather has been telling him stories about his childhood as a polish refugee on a small island in wales since he was old enough to listen. He tells him about the house he lived in and the peculiar children who can levitate and lift boulders over their heads that filled the house. He even has pictures as proof. Jacob believes his grandfather stories when he's young but slowly his faith fades away. But one day after tragedy strikes Jacob finds himself doubting his own sanity and ends up going on an adventure to a place he didn't even believe existed.
I went into this book knowing pretty much nothing about it and I'm happy I did. This book is so well written and the characters are so captivating. It includes a lot of creepy old photos that work into the story beautifully. The twists and turns in the story are so well placed and really keep you turning pages. My only gripe is that the relationship in this book felt a little unnecessary. But It was over all an amazing story and I cant wait to read the second book in the series. If you have the chance to pick this up I highly recommend it.
I'm giving Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children 5 stars
